Djoser's pyramid was the first work of architecture that has a named architect. It wasn't the FIRST mastaba, as we saw them earlier in the Ancient Near East chapter too. Djoser's pyramid was the FIRST pyramid we have record of, and you should know that it is a STEPPED pyramid (in the shape of subsequently smaller mastabas stacked on top of one another).
